Vasectomy - Male Sterilisation
Vasectomy is a surgical procedure undertaken for male sterilisation and/or permanent contraception. During the procedure, the vasa deferentia are cut and sealed to ultimately prevent sperm from entering into the seminal stream (ejaculate). A vasectomy is a minimally invasive and uncomplicated procedure, often taking less than thirty minutes to complete.
Your doctor will recommend at least one semen specimen within 2-3 months post-procedure. Most patients find they can resume normal sexual interaction within a week post-surgery with little or no discomfort, however it is encouraged to practice alternative methods of contraception until the vasectomy has been verified a success.
