At the Tasmanian Skin Clinic we have a variety of hair removal options:
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive, light-based technology used to permanently reduce unwanted hair growth by penetrating the skin and disabling the hair follicle. This safe, quick and effective solution can be used to remove hair from the face and body and is customised to your individual hair colour and texture to ensure optimal results.
Electrolysis is another method of permanent hair removal, involving the destruction of the hair follicle with a targetted, low level electrical current then epilation (removal) of the treated hair. This method can be used for both the face and body and is particularly useful in the removal of stubborn, individual hairs.
Our DMK Alkaline Wash is also available for the removal of fine unwanted hair on the face and body. Fine facial hair is particularly difficult to treat with IPL and Electrolysis, which makes the Alkaline Wash the most appropriate method of hair removal for this. During the procedure, an alkaline paste is applied to the area for a short period of time. This alkaline paste differs to everyday hair removal creams as it is of a higher PH, serving not only to remove hair but discourage re-growth.
Waxing for men and women is also available at the Tasmanian Skin Clinic.
What else can IPL therapy be used for?
Whether born with them or acquired over the courseof a lifetime, virtually everyone has one or more sun spots, freckles or skindiscolouration they’d love to get rid of! A doctor’s letter confirming that no skin cancers are present is usuallyrequired before commencing your treatment cycle and a series of 4 – 6treatments spaced 4 week apart are required for optimal results. Treatments areas such as backs of hands, forearms,décolletage and face will respond well.
Everybody loves thesunshine! Limited exposure is good for the soul and the immediate effects it hason the skin such as a tan and healthy glow are much desired. However, in the long term, sun exposuredecreases the production of collagen, which in turn causes damage to the skin making it feel wrinkled and coarse and looking red and tired. Skin rejuvenation treatments will improveskin tone, texture, refine and refresh the skin by increasing the production ofcollagen in the skin.
Estimates indicate that unsightly veins are acommon problem for more than 60% of the adult population! Our trained clinicians can offer treatmentswhich will reduce facial blemishes such as red flushing and red spots found oncheeks and around the nose with minimal downtime or risk. A treatment cycle of 4 – 6 treatments spacedtwo to three weeks apart is usually required to reach your best possibleoutcome.

Results will vary, butmost people will see a significant improvement in skin condition. Treatment should be spaced approximately 1 –2 weeks apart.
